  1. How Do I Get Started?
    It's easy as 1, 2 and 3. Getting started on Global MedData is easy! First, call us to receive additional information or to answer any questions that you may have. Next, make an appointment with us to review the process over the phone or in person. Just dictate using your favorite device and upload your files over the web.

  2. How secure is this site?.
    Our Secure Socket Layer (SSL) software is the industry standard and among the best software available for secure commerce transactions. When you register you can take advantage of this security and be assured that your data and patient information will be encrypted.

  3. Where can I purchase my dictation device?
    We offer our customers either the opportunity to purchase the device at competitive prices from us or to purchase at over the Internet or most electronics stores, such as Best Buy, Circuit City, Sears, etc.

  4. How much does it cost?
    Our prices vary depending on the volume that our customers bring to us. It can range from as low as 8* cents to 10 cents per line.

  5. How much can I save by outsourcing transcription services?
    Our research indicates that in house transcriptionist can cost as high as 0.40cents per line. Our competitors charge up to 0.17cents per line. Our services can run as low as 8* cents per line. This means that you can save anywhere from 25 to 60%.

  6. Do you have any references?
    For any new customers interested in evaluating our services after the free two week trial period, we provide them with some of our existing customer contact information which they can call up for references.
DIGITAL RECORDERS FAQ
  1. Which Recorders will work with your service?
    We can support many types of Digital Recorders that are available in the market today – Sony, Dictaphone, Olympus. The Digital Recorder should be able to export a Voice File to your computer for it to work with our service. Please give us a call if you are not sure if the recorder will work with our service or not.

  2. Which Recorder do you recommend?
    We highly recommend the Sony Memory Stick Portable Digital Dictating Machine - ICD-MS515. More than 95% of our physicians use this recorder and are very happy with its functions and capabilities.

  3. Where can you buy the Recorder?
    You can buy the Recorder from a Major Electronic Retailer in your area such as Best Buy, Frys Electronics, CompUSA, Good Guys, Circuit City, Office Depot.

  4. Do you sell them?
    Yes, we do sell the recorders.

  5. How much does it cost?
    We sell the ICD-MS515 for $249.95 Price at the stores range from $245 - $299.

  6. Will the Recorder work on my PC?
    The recorder will work on any Windows PC (Windows 95/98/ME/NT/2000/XP). The recorder has built-in USB Connectivity for Easy PC Connection. If you do not have a USB port, then you can purchase a Floppy Disk Adapter for the Memory Stick Media.

  7. Will I need additional Hardware or Software?
    If you computer has an available USB port, then you will not have to get any hardware. The software to playback the dictation is included with the Recorder.

  8. How long do the Memory Sticks last?
    The Memory Sticks can be reused over and over again. Since the storage medium is digital, the Memory Sticks do not go bad as the tapes do. We have not had one Memory Stick go bad till date!

  9. How long do batteries last?
    Since the recorder does not have any moving parts, the batteries last longer compared to a tape recorder. Battery Life: Play: 12 hours (SP/LP mode), Record: 10 hours (SP mode) 12 hours (LP mode)

  10. What size do you recommend?
    Up To 171 Minutes Recording Time With Supplied 8MB Memory Stick offers the option of more than an hour (64 minutes) of super high quality sound in SP mode with 16kHz sampling (recommended), and 150 minutes of high quality sound recording with 8kHz sampling rate. You can always purchase additional Memory Sticks (8MB, 16MB, 32MB, 64MB).

  11. Do I need special software to upload the files?
    After you have dictated, all you have to do is plug the Recorder to your computer, log on to Global MedData website, and click upload! Its that simple, you do not need any additional software.

  12. How long is the upload time to a 56k Dial-up connection?
    It takes approximately 5 minutes to upload a 5 minute dictation using a dial-up connection.

  13. Do you recommend DSL?
    We highly recommend DSL. A 5 minute dictation will take less than a minute to upload! We are an authorized reseller of DSL services provided by Covad Communications. Please contact us if you are interested in DSL services.

  14. Can I upload from different locations?
    You can upload from different locations as long as you have an access to the Internet using Internet Explorer 5.0 and up.

  15. Can I browse the Internet and check my mails while the files are uploading?
    Yes, you can browse the Internet as check you mails while the files are uploading. However, we recommend that you wait till the files have transferred successfully.

  16. Do I need to delete voice files after uploading?
    Our upload scripts will automatically move the voice files to your computer, make a backup and transfer the files to GMD servers. The script will periodically delete the voice files stored as backup from your computer according to how you specify in the settings.

  17. What else do I need to do?
    After the voice files have transferred, you can unplug the recorder and start dictating again. We recommend “Formatting” the Memory Stick once a week to avoid data errors.

  18. How do I turn “off” the Recorder?
    The Recorder remains on all the time. You can put the Recorder on “hold” to avoid accidental recordings.
